Rupture. s. f. v. Fracture. Action par laquelle une chose est rompue, estat d'une chose rompuë. La rupture d'une porte, d'un coffre, d'un cabinet &c. la rupture d'un os, d'une veine, d'une artere, d'une membrane.
Rupture. signifie aussi, Hergne, descente de boyau. Il est fort incommodé d'une rupture.
Rupture, se dit fig. De la division qui arrive entre des personnes qui estoient unies par traité, par amitié, &c. Entiere rupture. rupture ouverte, manifeste, declarée. lequel des deux est l'autheur de la rupture? ils en sont venus à une rupture, jusqu'à la rupture. ils estoient amis, mais il y a rupture entre eux. il y a rupture entre les Couronnes. il y a disposition à la rupture.
Il se dit aussi fig. De la cassation, de la resolution des traitez & des actes publics ou particuliers. Depuis la rupture de la paix. depuis la rupture de leur societé. cet accident fut cause de la rupture du mariage.
